The 424 on the stand, ready to run in the 2006 Engine Masters Challenge

Welcome to our web site! We hope that anyone who has called the phone number previously listed on this site will try us again at (503) 708-0810. The phone number on the contact page has now been corrected.

We are exclusively builders of AMC and Jeep engines. Proper building of these engines is fast becoming a lost art, as many builders try to build them liks a Chevy or Ford, which never works very well. We have thoroughly researched the oiling systems of these engines, and have come up with cures that will add greatly to their life and under the most demanding conditions. Call or write us for a quote or information on your project. We also have access to many hard to find parts for the AMC vehicles, including sheet metal. Let us know your needs.

IF YOU ARE READY FOR REAL CHANGE THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS, CHECK OUT THIS SITE "www.lynn-peterson-for-president.com"

This site was formerly known as "http://kustomkemps.tripod.com". Since we deal mainly in AMC and Jeep engines and parts, we decided to change the name. HOWVER, we do supply parts for other engines, such as custom built oil pans, billit cranks and rods, pistons, and cams. We have found that building an AMC/Jeep engine has become a lost art, and are out to correct the situation. For the past two years, we have competed at the Jegs/Popular Hort Rodding Engine Masters Challenge. Information on the challenge engines is contained in the folowing pages.

Welcome to the KustomKemps web site. For those of you who have an interest in American Motors products, these pages are for you. We have been in the AMC end of the hobby since we bought our first (future) AMC, a 1948 Hudson coupe. It was a $100 piece of rusted Chicago junk, but I learned to drive a stick in that car the hard way, because, after purchase, I had to take it from Chicago, Il. to Gary, In. in rush hour traffic. The Hudson turned out to be a great car, not much to look at, but fun to drive, and surprisingly fast. Our first new AMC was a '68 AMX, SN 6048, which we purchased in San Diego, and ran at OCIR during 1968-69. The car now resides in Hayward, Wi., and, much as I try, I can't get it back. It still has less than 40K on it.

In case you don't know, a "kemp" is a fifties term for a hot rod. There is a Kustom Kemps of America club, which has it's own web site, and is not affiliated with us. Check them out.

UPDATE!!!

We finally got to run the engine, and got a max HP of 710.9 @ 6400, and max TQ of 636.9 @ 4900. Our average HP was 487.7, and average TQ was 554.79. These two numbers, added together, would have made our score 1042.49, which would have meant we would have come in at 5th place in the 2006 Jegs/Popular Hot Rodding Engine masters Challenge. Not bad for a first time out. (IF we could have got it together in time. BOO!!!HOO!!!) Here is a copy of the dyno sheet:
